Pantelleria, Sicily

From July 20 to 26
the first edition of the l’Acchiappasogni (dreams of sea, sun, wind) creative workshop,
curated by Viviana Randazzo with the support of Ariane Sallier de La Tour and Mario Valenza,
will be held on the Sicilian island of Pantelleria.
Pantelleria is an island that crosses thousand-year-old routes and the destinies of women and men who have lost and then found their way.
Pantelleria is the island of the wind, a place where you abandon your thoughts to rediscover meaning.
And it is precisely from this need
to “let go and then find ourselves again”
that the idea of this creative workshop began.
Each participant will be invited to search for fragments of the island – of sea, of sun, of wind – to compose into their own mosaic of dreams to be entrusted to the air “as light as the wind”.
We will challenge ourselves to rediscover the art of balance, the sense of lightness, the meaning of small precious objects.
During the week, one day will also be dedicated to a Sicilian cooking lesson.
The workshop is organized and hosted by Le Case del Principe,
a historic group of dammusi houses on the island looked after with love by Ariane
And it will be an opportunity for meeting, chatting and simplicity.
PROGRAM
July 20th: Arrival on the island during the day, check-in at the houses. In the evening, welcome aperitif at Ariane’s house.
July 21st: Free morning for excursions to search for objects to use during the workshop to make your own dreamcatcher. Materials however will be supplemented by the organization that will provide everything needed to build a dreamcatcher. 5:00 pm theory session at the Dammuso: “How a dream catcher is structured, the materials and their assembly. Balancing technique”. Free evening
Juky 22nd: Free morning to discover the island and integrate the materials collected. From 5:00 pm practical exercise: “Assembling threads, how to knot and secure objects”. Pantescan dinner at Ariane’s.
July 23rd: 11:00 am Practical exercise: “Assembling the dreamcatchers”, one for each participant. 6:00 pm walk in the mountains accompanied by Mario to discover the other side of Pantelleria. Free evening.
July 24th: 11:00 am Sicilian cooking lesson: savory cassata. Dalle 17:00 completamento della cassata ed eventuali ultimi accorgimenti per gli acchiappasogni. La sera presentazione dei lavori e cena conclusiva del workshop.
July 25th: Day off. A boat excursion is recommended if time permits.
July 26th: Check-out and departures.
Pantelleria is an unpredictable island. The program may undergo changes which will be communicated in time. We designed this workshop mainly as an opportunity for human interaction, an exchange, as a way to meet people and share pieces of life, starting from small objects.
Ariane Sallier de La Tour, the host. She welcomes guests with the same charm inherited from her parents. She loves spending her evenings watching the sea from her terrace lulled by the rhythm of the Punta Spadillo lighthouse.
Viviana Randazzo. Today she is a lawyer, but with a dreamer’s nature. She has known Ariane forever and they have shared many adventures together. In love with the island of Pantelleria, she will guide you to free your soul and dream.
Mario Valenza, A true Pantesco in his heart and soul. He loves to travel around the island with his camera in hand to immortalize the essence of the wind and the island through faces and places.

The workshop costs €650 per person.

What’s included:
- POvernight stay in shared rooms for 6 nights at Le Case del Principe. A supplement for a single room will be €200 per person. .
- Welcome aperitif, Pantescan dinner, and the final dinner during the workshop..
- Supplies for making breakfast on your own.
- 4 afternoons of workshops dedicated to the creation of a dreamcatcher.
- 1 day Sicilian cooking workshop.
- Additional materials for making the dream catcher.
What is not included:
- Transportation to/from Pantelleria.
- Means of transport on the island.
- Meals, unless otherwise specified.
- Boat excursion.
HOW TO GET HERE
Pantelleria is easily reachable by ferry or hydrofoil from Trapani or by plane from Palermo, Trapani and Catania (Danish Air Transport).
In mid and high season also from other Italian cities including Rome, Milan, Venice, Bergamo, Turin, and Catania with flights from multiple airlines such as Volotea, ITA Airways, Goto-fly.
